(972) 578-8982Impact Resistant Composition Shingles (UL 2218 Class IV)
Impact resistant, or hail resistant, shingles were introduced into our market in 1997. They have a UL 2218 Class IV rating and are designed to protect the integrity of the shingle structure from moderate hail. Most insurance companies offer a reduction in homeowner’s insurance premiums, many around 20%, with the installation of these shingles. We have been installing these shingles since they were introduced, and they have proven successful in protecting from damage due to moderate hail.
Below are some of the impact resistant shingles that we install most often:
GAF Timberline ArmorShield II | colors available
These shingles utilize a modified asphalt formula that produces a rubber like flexibility for maximum impact resistance while maintaining the look of the Timberline series. (Limited lifetime warranty)
Certainteed Landmark IR
These shingles are produced to resist damage from hail with an added durable reinforcement on the underside of the shingle. They feature soft shadow lines and a patented color blending process. (Limited lifetime warranty)
Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration STORM
These shingles utilize a special adhesive to retain the protective granules during severe weather as well as a reinforced base and an enhanced sealant. They are available in six textured color blends. (Limited lifetime warranty)
Malarkey Legacy | colors available
These shingles are fortified with Malarkey’s unique polymer modified asphalt technology to ensure greater granule adhesion. (Limited lifetime warranty)
GAF and Certainteed also offer impact resistant shingles in these premium designer composition shingles:

- An Absolute Lifesaver! Professional, Honest, and Fast!
Alan Helsley is truly one of a kind—professional, … More honest, and absolutely a man of his word!
I had an emergency pop up when a water heater vent on the roof became dislocated, causing water to seep through. In the blink of an eye after hanging up the phone with Alan, he had one of his team members at my house to check it out. They fixed and sealed it right there on the spot!
Alan completely saved the day and gave me total peace of mind on what was a very hectic, stressful morning. I will ALWAYS have Helsley Roofing on my speed dial. Thank you so much, Alan, and the entire team! I have used them in the past and have always been pleased but with this last job I am beyond pleased!! If you need a roofing company you can actually trust & do what they say they will do, look no further. - Helsley Roofing Co. was highly recommended by close, trusted friends & I am very grateful they did! … More From the first call talking with Heather and then Lisa; to them scheduling Larry Keithly to check out where a leak might be coming from. The communication, attention to detail, and professionalism from everyone has been excellent! Larry was able to see what was going on with the roof and gave a very reasonable estimate. He even removed the very old unused satellite dish (that caused the problem) and did a temporary cover over the hole that day!
He was able to get us on the schedule quickly and the complete permanent repair was made. Everyone at Helsley has made getting this repair easy and given peace of mind. I’m happy to say I highly recommend them as well and will use them in the future!!
Thanks to everyone at Helsley Roofing!! - I had a fantastic experience with Helsley Roofing. They helped me with roof repair, downspout replacement, … More and removing an old satellite dish, and the entire process was seamless from start to finish.
Their team was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to clearly explain every step, which made me feel confident in the decisions being made. What stood out most was their honesty and integrity—they focused on what was truly best for my roof rather than upselling unnecessary work.
If you’re looking for a reliable and trustworthy roofing company for repairs or exterior work, I highly recommend Helsley Roofing.
